Jon Lester Black Baseball
Jon Lester is finally coming into his own. Lester drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2002 quickly rose through the Sox’ farm system and was considered one of baseball’s top prospects. Just a few weeks after being called up to the big team in July 2006 however tests to determine the extent of an apparent back injury revealed that Lester had lymphoma a form of cancer. Lester was treated the lymphoma went into remission and after several minor league starts Lester returned to the mound for the Red Sox on July 23 2007 earning the win in a game against the Indians.
