HELP.Genesis 9:18-27..is this the first act of homosexuality in the bible….if not can you explain wat happen

18And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.
19These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.
20And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
21And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.
22And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
23And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.
24And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
25And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
26And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
27God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwel
i didnt know ……so i was just wondering .i know it doesnt give a hint of homosexuality but i just thought maybe something was left of or maybe i didnt understand what they were saying

Shem and Japheth covered their father to hide his nakedness. This in no way indicates any form of homosexuality. Not even a hint of it.

Where would you get such an idea???

God bless!

No it is not. The sin was Ham walked in on his father who had gotten drunk and was naked. Ham instead of covering up his father and keeping his mouth shut ran his mouth to everyone.

Contrast that to what his brothers did. His brothers walked backwards to cover up their father and kept their mouth shut.

No, it is not. Noah's sin was being out of control, drunk, and exposing himself. Ham sinned by gawking and not trying to help his father, Japheth and Shem honored their father, even in his sin.

They didn't want to see their Dad naked , so they took careful steps to cover him up ..
I must say I don't see the connection to homosexuality and doing the right thing , I mean if it were my Dad , Yeah ~ I'd do the same ..Cover him !

Nah it's not. The sons covered their dad out of reverence to respect him so no one else would see him like that.

No, it isn't. Way back then, traditionally, he should not have said anything about him being naked, he should have just covered him up and went about his way. But instead, he risked embarrasment on his father by telling others of his drunken nakedness.

I don't know where it states homosexuality. Noah was upset because his younger son Ham had told his 2 brothers about his father's nakedness instead of covering his father with a garment. Ham had no dignity, but Noah probably felt that Ham disrespected him by talking about his nakedness to his brothers instead of taking action.

It is a description of a homosexual act against Noah's will. The language is cryptic in the same way "Adam knew is wife" is cryptic, but there is no doubt that Ham had homosexual sex with Noah. It is more than Ham simply viewing his father naked. This is born out in the choice of words "Noah knew what his younger son had done UNTO him" You don't do UNTO someone when you just LOOK. The words DONE UNTO suggests something active not a passive act like looking. Noah got buggered by Ham. Also, the fact that Noah cursed Ham's decendents for generations suggests something a lot more aggravating than Noah getting gawked at by his son. .

It doesn't actually say what exactly happened but Noah wasn't happy about it and in fact, this was the first curse ever in the Bible.

Noah got drunk (a poor example of a godly man), but it is to show that even believers can sin and the sin effects their family.. the wicked people were all killed, but because of who they (Noah and his family) came from, the possiblity of evil still existed in them.

basically, Noah got drunk and fell asleep naked and his sons covered him up. I don't see anything here about homosexuality

he was disrespecting his father instead of covering his nakedness he was gossiping about it, not a homosexual act at all.

No it is not about homosexuality. Its about Noah drinking so much wine .. he literally passed out and from his drinking too much…he became naked. Don't read into this more than what is there. Because Ham didn't cover Noah up… instead went and told his brothers… Noah cursed Canaan (Ham) for not doing the right thing and cover him as he laid passed out and naked.

it is not… Noah got drunk laid naked his one son came in and instead of helping him ran out and ran his mouth and the other 2 came in backwards to keep from seeing their father and covered him up. Slow down on your reading maybe you won't have to ask such a question that was so easy to understand…

This is the best explanation I've seen, its from the Matthew Henry Commentary:

III. Ham's impudence and impiety: He saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren, Gen_9:22. To see it accidentally and involuntarily would not have been a crime; but, 1. He pleased himself with the sight, as the Edomites looked upon the day of their brother (Oba_1:12), pleased, and insulting. Perhaps Ham had sometimes been himself drunk, and reproved for it by his good father, whom he was therefore pleased to see thus overcome. Note, It is common for those who walk in false ways themselves to rejoice at the false steps which they sometimes see others make. But charity rejoices not in iniquity, nor can true penitents that are sorry for their own sins rejoice in the sins of others. 2. He told his two brethren without (in the street, as the word is), in a scornful deriding manner, that his father might seem vile unto them. It is very wrong, (1.) To make a jest of sin (Pro_14:9), and to be puffed up with that for which we should rather mourn, 1Co_5:2. And, (2.) To publish the faults of any, especially of parents, whom it is our duty to honour. Noah was not only a good man, but had been a good father to him; and this was a most base disingenuous requital to him for his tenderness. Ham is here called the father of Canaan, which intimates that he who was himself a father should have been more respectful to him that was his father.

Ham and his father Noah did not have sexual relations, so NO, this does not count as the first homosexual account of the Bible.

In this passage, Noah plants a vineyard, makes wine, and gets PLASTERED. He gets SO DRUNK that he starts to feel overheated, so he strips himself naked before passing out in his own tent. When his son, Ham, walks in unannounced, he sees his dad passed out cold, naked as a jaybird. "Ha, ha, ha!" he tells his brothers, "You should get a good look at Dad! Wanting to spare their father any embarrassment from other "unannounced" visitors, his other 2 sons walk in backwards, and discreetly cover him with a blanket.

I believe the first account of homosexual activity recorded in the Bible is actually in another part of Genesis. Check out the story of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. The rape gang that attacked Lot's house were bent on attacking his guests: angels disguised as men.

We are not told what really happened, it just doesn't say. I have over the years encountered several theories ranging from "it was actually his mother that he saw" to "Ham castrated his father" (according to Rashi it was Ham, according to Pirkei d'Rabbi Eliezer it was Canaan that did this). Its interesting to note that the curse was on Canaan instead of Ham so it would seem he was mixed up in it somehow.
