Immune Function Naturally 120 Cap From Natures Benefit

Immune Function Naturally 120 Cap From Natures Benefit The immunes system is the body’s biodefense. Immune function involves a complex cascade of events. There are intelligent communications between all tissues of the body. Alterations in the balance of the immune function are responsible for the cause or progression of many common diseases, including cancer, chronic inflammatory disorders, arthritis and specific auto-immune disease. People talk about boosting immune function but most often they really mean balancing immune function. Single-agent approaches with one herb or nutrient possess disadvantages and limitations. For example, sterolins (Moducare™) or mushroom extracts (MGN3™ or AHCC, ImmuPower™) are valuable immune stimulators but they have focused and limited effects on only certain aspects o immune function. There is a way of producing an improved dietary supplement that can be used in combination to stimulate immune function in a more global manner. Such combinations do not rely upon an isolated component of the immune cascade of events. Any natural agent that exerts an antioxidant function can be potentially valuable in promoting healthy immune function, because oxidative stress (free-radical damage) to components of the immune system is a common reason for disordered immunity. In particular, the following antioxidants are of great value for immune well-being: Vitamin C, zinc, green tea, turmeric, grape seed extract and antioxidants found in a variety of herbs and botanicals. Botanical agents with specific immune-enhancing power include several species of mushrooms, plant sources of beta glucan, Echinacea and the potent and versatile herb Andrographis paniculata (AP). Recent research implies that AP may be a very powerful stimulator of immune function by its specific actions on chemical signals in certain cells, and it has potent immune properties. As a supplement, Andrograhis carries no treatment claims. I believe that nutritional

Handbook of Viral Bioterrorism and Biodefense

Handbook of Viral Bioterrorism and Biodefense
The atrocities of 11 September 2001 and the more recent casualties due to anthrax bioterrorism have dramatically emphasized the potential danger of biological warfare and bioterrorism. The editors of “Antiviral Research” have taken the initiative to edit a special issue of the Journal, focusing on Viral Bioterrorism and Biodefense. It is the first time in history that a special volume has been dedicated to this topic, which in view of the current circumstances is timely, appropriate and relevant. To what extent could viruses be “weaponized”, i.e. turned into biological weapons, and used for biowarfare, which viruses would lend themselves for this purpose, how should we estimate the risk and the consequences, which diagnostic measures should be taken, and how should we react prophylactically, and, if needed, therapeutically?

Francisella Tularensis

Francisella Tularensis
This is the first book on tularemia. With the biodefense initiative, there has been a major boost by the NIH to fund studies on bioterrorism agents, including Francisella, which is classified as a class A bioterrorism agent. With the major interest in biodefense and the major threats of bioterrorism, Francisella tularensis has become a major interest for microbiologists, cell biologists, immunologists, and infectious disease experts. The volume explores the mechanisms of pathogenesis, genetics and genetic manipulations, genomics and metagenomics, identification of vaccine candidates, animal models to study the disease process, mechanisms of protective immunity, pathophysiology, vaccine development, genetic susceptibility, more effective therapies, clinical diagnosis, and routine and rapid microbiological diagnostic tools.
NOTE: Annals volumes are available for sale as individual books or as a journal. For information on institutional journal subscriptions, please visit www.blackwellpublishing.com/nyas.
