Genesis Resveratrol

how many people think that drinking is a sin?

prove your point ,many verses in the bible state of what to do and what not to do when drinking.do would those verses be neceary if drinking is a sin then what sthe points of those verses. jesus also turned water into wine and it was not grape juice.
Numbers 6:3
he shall separate himself from wine and similar drink; he shall drink neither vinegar made from wine nor vinegar made from similar drink; neither shall he drink any grape juice, nor eat fresh grapes or raisins.
this separates wine from grape juice.
I believe religious people did this in the 1900’s during the Prohibition period and preached this around the world. whats your say on this. There’s a difference about a bible believer and a religious fanatic. I believe the bible and everything it says. so please give me your say on it. you think you got something contradicting to what i say. prove your point with some research.

The Numbers passage deals specifically with the vow of the Nazirite. It doesn’t apply to the people at large.

Further, it is not drinking that is a sin, but getting drunk. As it is written: “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.” (Ephesians 5:18)

There are other warnings about those who are given to wine. We are also told not to be mastered by anything other than God. (Cf. I Corinthians 6:12)

Drinking is not sinful. Neither is smoking the reefer.

It is a sin. In the Bible the wine being discussed was not fermented, like wine today is.

In addition to this Bible verse, the prophet Joseph Smith recieved revelation, which is called the Word of Wisdom, which tells us that we are not to drink alcohol, coffee, tea, no smoking, or chewing tobacco, it also says it’s important to eat meat sparingly and eat a lot of grains.
It’s interesting that he recieved that revelation at a time that people thought smoking and drinking were good for your health.

I don’t think it is necessarily a sin. But the Bible does say that you are a slave to whatever controls you. ( 2 Peter 2:19) - and most people who drink (i ‘m saying most) drink excessivly and usually become controlled and dependant on alcohol to feel good. So Yes drinking is a sin if it comes to this. But the Bible does clearly talk about drinking wine. I myself will stay away from the appearance of evil. Like the Bible says. It’s hard to profess and claim to be a radical christian and have your friends see you at the bar throwing down a wet one.

Drinking is not a sin, drunkenness is. A little wine is good for digestion, not the whole bottle.
